This interactive map was created with Juliette Reboul with sources collected as part of her PhD research into the integrations of French émigrés into the British society between 1789 and 1815 (“Emigrés and Great Britain: Memory, Integration and Cultural Transfers, 1789-1850”). This particular map has been used to locate the émigré journalists, press and the fourteen émigré newspapers then printed in London as defined by Pr. Simon Burrows in French Exile Journalism and European Politics, 1792-1814. It offers a visual insight into the intellectual aspects of the European counter-revolution in London, and most of all, its integration within London’s existing book trade in the end of the eighteenth-century. Such an insight has been important in understanding the interrelations and interpenetration between French émigré and British journalism, politics and public spheres.
