Whereas Natural Earth or GADM offer shapefiles of current states, finding historical shapefiles of African countries can be difficult. Using modern GADM shapefiles, I re-created the different regions and states of Nigeria since 1954. I based my work on the series of maps available on Wikipedia. Feel free to download them.
